Shelby Anderson is an associate attorney at DuMond & Doran, PLLC, whose primary focus is in Family Law. She understands the importance of helping clients navigate through difficult family issues and uses her knowledge and experience to find the resolution that best fits her clients’ needs.
Shelby was born and raised in a small town in North Dakota. From the beginning, she was motivated to achieve at her highest potential, and this drive attributed to her success. She received a 4.0 GPA throughout high school while also participating in volleyball, basketball, track, cheerleading, band, choir, Science Olympiad, and numerous other extra-curricular activities.
Shelby continued her education at the University of North Dakota, where she was determined to rise to the top of her class. Cognizant of the importance of client communication and understanding, she double majored in Psychology and Sociology and minored in Criminal Justice. Shelby earned a 4.0 GPA while also being involved in extra-curricular activities. She was a Teaching Assistant in five different classes, where she led roundtable discussions, study review sessions, and was a guest lecturer. Shelby was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and was the Grand Marshal for the 2013 Spring Commencement. Shelby also continued in her passion for sports as an athlete on the UND cheer team for both football and basketball all four years.
Throughout her time in law school, Shelby gained legal knowledge and real-world experience that has helped her become the attorney she is today. She worked at two civil litigation firms, where she established a foundation of legal experience. Shelby spent much of her time assisting with the development of a new program at ASU, the Sports Law and Business Program (SLB). As the President of the SLB student outreach, Shelby brought in prominent sports figures to give lectures on their accolades and achievements. She assisted with two sports symposiums, was a member of the Sport & Entertainment Law Journal, and was elected as the Journal’s Director of External Affairs her third year. Shelby’s drive for success in law school remained strong throughout her time with these extra-curricular endeavors. She graduated with a 3.63 GPA and was ranked in the top 20% of her class. She was a Pedrick Scholar Award recipient all six semesters and earned CALI Awards for Excellence, the top grade in the class, in Sports Law and Legal Advocacy.
Shelby cares about her clients and wants their voice to be heard. Despite the emotional nature of family law litigation, Shelby’s focus remains on the client’s ultimate goal, and she will strive to find the best resolution for her clients every step of the way.
